After the powder fest that was the Tignes trip, and the gastric assault course that was Christmas (for me at least), it is time to return to reality and the start of a new term.
Despite the lack of visibility for the first few, a good time seems to have been had by all with a heady mix of drunken antics, nipple deep fresh tracks and the odd Turd in a lift. However, no time to reminisce, there’s plenty of new stuff to get involved in. There’ll be the usual mix of Snowdome trips, dryslope (it’s an acquired taste), and Socials followed by the en masse alpine exchange of bodily fluids that is BUSC. For those who have yet to experience BUSC, it’s the UK student snowsports championships. Held this year in Alpe d’Huez, France. Last year over 2000 students descended on Saalbach in Austria for a week of snow and beer antics so good I cried tears of awesome all week. I spent a fortune on rehydration salts but it was all worth it. BUSC is much more of an all inclusive event with nights out and comps for everyone in resort, not just Bristol. The nightlife needs to be experienced to be appreciated, a number of people hardly made it onto the snow last year and pretty much just came to party but all tastes are catered for. Except snow blades. So, how do you get to shed inhibitions and clothing in a high altitude environment in the company of Britain’s academic glitterati? C’est facile: 1.Head to the BUSC website 2.
